Since Modern Love is an anthology show that doesn’t overly interest me in concept, I’ve only bothered to watch the few episodes of it recommended to me by reliable sources, and a couple of those have been very good. This one (‘On a Serpentine Road, With the Top Down’) tells a sweet and heartwarming story, well worth watching. The only complaint I have is that the ending is unnecessarily long, which diminishes its impact.

I’ve never thought of Minnie Driver as a particularly impressive actor but she does a splendid job in the lead role here. I had no idea she was so adept at Irish accents! (According to Wikipedia, she’s part English.)

I find the ‘phantom’ husband in the car a bit ridiculous in his expressions, but he’s likeable in the flashbacks. The new husband is extremely understanding, and rather nice too. I also like the fellow who buys the car.
