This is a great show. The plot is nothing very special, but it’s carried by its distinct, compelling characters and superb performances. The musical score takes an unexpected approach that works wonders to establish the tone and complement the story.

Every character is interesting. You want to keep watching just to see what they’ll do. Cassie seems like one of the dumbest people on the planet, though that can be excused for the sake of drama (and chalked up to her alcoholism). Max getting hit by a car was devastating. The revelation of Miranda’s true actions and motivations was a very well executed twist.

Megan’s story doesn’t seem to serve any purpose, as interesting as the characters in her storyline are. Shane’s climactic revelation that he’s in the CIA and watching her took me by surprise. I actually thought it was a joke at first. Just how long has he been with the airline, and how long has the CIA been watching her? (I suppose we’ll find out in the next season.)

The ending was rather neat and tidy, all things considered. The body count seemed high, but everyone miraculously survived.
