The Serpent’s Shadow by Rick Riordan

An excellent end to the series. It is a little slow and heavy in the first half, but it gets better in a second half filled with awe-inspiring moments, including the triumphant return of Bes. I was delighted to see Zia and Carter together in the end.[1] Sadie and Walt’s story has a pleasingly tidy resolution, too. After everything they’ve been through, it’s nice to see the Kanes settle down to a more normal life, as sad as it is to part from Bast.
Setne really is a fascinating character. The episode with Neith and the ‘Jelly Babies’ is hilarious. And that’s Drew Tanaka from Heroes of Olympus being as nasty as ever to Sadie at school!
- Presumably because I identify with Carter.↩
